Difference Between Evaporative And Ducted Air Conditioning

Air conditioning is an essential part of modern life. It doesn’t matter if you’re a homeowner or an apartment dweller; one thing is for sure – you need to have a working air conditioner at all times. And for this, you need to get a basic understanding of air conditioning and the help of an evaporative air conditioner service.

However, there are two types of air conditioning systems: evaporative and ducted. Here’s how they differ from each other:

    Energy Efficiency

Evaporative air conditioners are more energy efficient than ducted air conditioners. Air-cooled evaporative systems are the most energy-efficient system available, giving you the ability to save money on your power bills and enhance your home’s comfort level.

Split systems have a higher initial cost and require more maintenance than evaporative or ducted systems, but they also have the highest EER rating of all three types (18 – 20 compared to 12 – 15 for evaporative and 10 – 11 for ducted).

    Zoning

Zoning helps save energy and money. It enables you to control the temperature in different parts of the house.

For example, maybe you have a space that needs to be cooler than the rest of your home, like an attic or garage. Or maybe you have a room where it’s fine to be warmer than other rooms because it gets used less often—like an office or storage space.

With standard air conditioning (also known as “split-system” air conditioning), it’s possible to install ducted units in each room, but this can be expensive and difficult if not done right by a qualified technician. Zoning works best when installed with separate units throughout your house—but if this isn’t possible due to budget constraints or other reasons, options are still available!

    Installation & Cost

An evaporative air conditioner works by pulling in warm outside air and passing it over a water-filled pad that cools down the temperature of the air before it’s circulated through your home. This method is more affordable than ducted systems because they don’t require an additional unit or compressor, but they’re also less powerful and can be quite noisy during operation.

    Suitability For Your Home

Evaporative air conditioners are better suited to homes with large windows or an open plan. The reason for this is that they require a lot of airflow to work properly. This means that the air in your home needs to be able to circulate freely through it so that it can absorb water from a cooling pad and then disperse the cooled air back into every room in your home. A good and professional evaporative air conditioner service can help you figure this out.

In the case of fewer rooms, or if there’s no way for cool outside air to enter each room without going through another closed-off room first, then this may not be the best solution for you.

Ducted systems, on the other hand, don’t require such high levels of airflow in order to function properly, which makes them more viable solutions for these types of situations where evaporative systems might not be appropriate.

    Conclusion

Air conditioning can be a necessity in many working and living conditions. While there are some differences between evaporative and ducted air conditioning, both systems are a great option for providing comfort in your home or office during the warmer months.
